Landscaping with Less Water, Less Maintenance, and Less Impact on the Environment

Xeriscaping low maintenance landscapingHere's a word for ya: Xeriscape. The word itself is pretty weird, but the concept is simple and brilliant! It means to use water-effiecient plants and methods to create a landscape. The term xeros literally means dry in Greek. It is a practice that began in Colorado as a way to conserve water on landscaping designs and is quickly speading all over the globe. There are many benefits to this method and in Florida we primarily use it for villas and small yards.

The main advantage of Xeriscaping is using less water. With many states experiencing drought this is can be a yard-saver for people on water restrictions. By using native plants that naturally consume less water, with the proper soil and sod to help maintain them, it is an amazing way to create a low matinence landscape. A properly maintain xeriscape uses one-third the water a traditional landscape does.

Of course this method is wonderful the environment, not only cutting water consumption but also reducing the need for powering up lawn tools. Most xeriscapes require little to no fertilizers if the plants are native and aclimented to the soil. They are designed to be little self-sustaining eco-systems, with little need for matienence, except for the occasional pruning and weeding.

Florida has a wide variety of water-wise plants that can be used to keep your yard green all year, as well as seasonal plants to add splashes of color. If you think xeriscaping would be good for your home or business, fill out our request form and have Mansfield turn your yard into a beautiful and efficient oasis.

What Your Neighbors Are Saying About Mansfield Landscaping

If you want to see an absolutely FANTASTIC job done by Steve Mansfield and his crew... come by my house tomorrow and you will be amazed.

Steve's been advising me for years to change what I had originally developed into something a little more stylish, but being the hard-headed Italian I am, I kept refusing until this year. I'm sick of our cold winters that kill all my pretty flowers so I let him convince me to change it all to a completely new look. I love to work with Steve, he sure knows his landscaping stuff and he may come off with a gruff exterior, but down deep, the man is a teddy bear and very easy to work with.

Oh Boy, I can't tell you how excited I am. The transformation is unbelievable. Steve and his guys were on the job for 2 days and through their creative talents came up with a wall/bed design utilizing many of my existing trees, unlike anything I have seen in the past.

We discovered Mansfield Landscaping through our friends in the Village of Hadley. They gave us a good review of Steve's work, so we decided to visit his showroom/nursery. We are from Minnesota and know NOTHING about palm trees! We were looking for an education and lots of information about Florida landscaping.

Steve was so great with us! He showed us many different varieties of palm trees, along with plants that do well in this area. He also has an excellent display of both stone walls and rock--you can really see the different colors so you know what you are getting.

Later that same day, Steve came to our villa, came up with a plan and gave us an estimate. Three business days later, his crew showed up with a truckload of between 70 and 80 plants and the palm trees we wanted. Steve brings many, many plants to the job so you can select the ones you want--which is a real advantage, in my opinion.

The crew finished the job on time, and did an outstanding job! We had both our front and back yards done, so there was a lot of dirt on our concrete. They cleaned up everything and did a great job at that also!

Our job was completed a week ago, and since then, Steve has been back at least 3 times to check on what we think, how everything looks, and to make sure we are watering like we should be. His follow-up service is excellent.

We were very satisfied with the professionalism of Mansfield Landscaping. It was a delightful surprise and experience after having pursued this project with four other landscaping companies that did not measure up to Mansfield. They were attentive from first contact. We received a phone call back in under two hours after our first inquiry. All calls were handled in like manner, We had a problem with our irrigation and they promptly attended and fixed the situation. Price was held as quoted no ad-ons or increase for anything.

We received at least three follow up calls to be certain everything was to our satisfaction. It was a breath of fresh air. The house looks new again. We have drive by gawkers.

We agree with Angie. Our landscaping was done by Mansfield Landscaping when we purchased our new home. Almost two years later one of our Sylvester palms was dying. We contacted Steve, and 2 days later the dying Sylvester was removed and new one planted...and at no cost. That is what we call service! We still receive compliments on the landscaping wall, islands, etc. Highly recommend Mansfield Landscaping.

I have moved 8 times all in FL and have put in a lot of landscaping. The landscaping Steve Mansfield did at my present home is the best ever. On a scale of 1 to 10, Steve and his employees are a good 10.

Just had Mansfield landscape do our yard and am very happy with not only the work done, but with the large size and healthy quality of the plants and palms. The crew was wonderful and completed a major job in a half day. Extra plants were added and all the beds received extra mulching at no extra charge. I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking for a good, reliable landscape company.
